Tasks distribution - first extraction

To set up the reference distribution for the Data Extraction stage, navigate to the 'Extraction tasks' tab.

First, decide if you want to enable automated distribution. The default option is non-automated distribution - this method requires each batch of references to be manually distributed to Researchers. When you enable automated distribution, all current and future references will be automatically distributed to researchers according to the predefined strategy. If you decide to disable automated distribution, you can select the number of references to be distributed for the extraction.

Restriction: if you choose automated distribution, you won’t be able to change it.

Next choose one of the following options:

  • Proportional assignment,
  • Individual assignment,
  • Open pool of tasks.

If you decide to use a Proportional assignment, all tasks will be divided proportionally among Researchers.

In the case of Individual distribution, a selected number of references can be distributed variously between researchers. Move the slider or type a percent value [%] of references that would be distributed to a specific Researcher.  Finally, click on 'Setup' button.

The Open pool method offers a flexible and researcher-driven approach specifically designed for the Data Extraction and Quality Assurance (QA) stages of a project. In this model, the entire batch of records is aggregated into a central task pool from which Researchers select individual records for processing ('Claim random reference' button in the My Task module) until the entire batch is completed.
