How to start Title and abstract screening

To start Title and Abstract Screening, you can click on the 'My Task' section (notification panel).  You can also click on the My tasks in the left sidebar.

Please note, that prior to the distribution, there will be no records available in the My Task section.

Your "My Task" panel will display the following information:

  • How many references you need to screen or extract in particular stage ('To screen' tab)
  • How many references have been completed at each stage ('Completed' tab)
  • How many conflicts need to be resolved ('Conflicts' tab)

To start Title and abstract screening, select the 'To screen' tab in the Title and Abstract screening section.

Tip: On the right hand side you can follow the progress of your team members at each stage of the systematic review:
• a full blue dot means that the reviewer has completed their work,
an empty dot means that the reviewer is working on given task,
a grey dot means that the reviewer has not yet started their screening,
no dot means that the team member has no references assigned (via distribution process)

If the project manager has chosen the 'Open pool' distribution method, you will also see a blue 'Open pool' button in the Title and abstract screening section. This indicates to the researcher that they do not have a ready-to-screen batch of references, but rather need to claim them from the pool.

After clicking on 'My tasks', you will see the 'Reference list' view. In the central panel, you can access all the references to screen. On the left, there is a list of filters with which to sort them.

In the top right corner of the dashboard, click the 'Bibliographic data' button to open the panel where you can view more information about the reference, including the abstract. There are also In/Out criteria with instructions and highlights, as well as a button that redirects to Focus mode. The 'Send decision' button must be used if you are not planning to change your screening decision and want to send it for further analysis (e.g. full-text screening).

In the top left corner, there is a button for AI learning. Use this to apply a new ranking (record prioritisation) based on inclusion likelihood to the reference list. The button will be active when the new ranking is ready. Click it to apply the new ranking to the list view. This button is not necessary if you are in Focus Mode view, as records are automatically prioritised. The View Options button enables you to switch highlights on or off.

Reference list view

If you have selected the Open pool distribution method, the Reference list view will look similar, but first you will need to claim references using the ‘Get new references’ button located in the middle of the panel or at the top right. You can claim a specific number of references (10/50/100) or all available to claim references. Moreover, you can search and get specific references.

To find specific references, enter your keywords in the search box and select the ones you want from the results. To view all filtered references, click 'Get all'.

Choosing references in the Open pool of tasks method

For the Open Pool method, you can return references to the pool after claiming them to allow other users to screen them. To do this, select the references and go to the bottom section. Click the 'Actions' button and then 'Revert to the pool'.
