In Laser AI, there are several options within the PDF management panel:
Upload PDFs - to upload PDF files, click on the 'Upload' button. You can upload PDFs in two ways: by batch PDFs uploading and single PDFs upload.
Exporting a file with references with missing PDFs - By clicking on the 'All missing PDFs' button, you can export a RIS or CSV file. This can be useful, especially if you are using software such as EndNote to retrieve PDFs.
Tip: There is another dashboard (in the Reference list) where you can perform uploading PDFs or exporting references with missing PDFs
If you are working in a larger team, or on multiple project at once, it will be helpful to know if anyone started PDF retrieval for a certain project.
To start PDF retrieval work:
1. Go to the Full-Text Stage or Data Extraction Stage dashboard using the navigation panel on the left.
2. Click the 'Flag' button in the PDF management panel to claim references without PDFs.
Note: Claiming references has several important benefits:
- it allows you to avoid duplicating the work of librarians;
- it enables you to get a list of only newly added references if you wish;
- it allows you to change the assignment of the PDF retrieval work from one member to another.
- Pdf retrieval status is visible in the main list of all projects and you can filter projects according to this
- References without PDF will be automatically tagged in the References page with tag ‘No PDF’. This change will be reflected also on the PRISMA diagram.
Once the references have been claimed, you can preview the current status of missing references by clicking on the arrow. You can see how many PDFs are still missing, download the batch of references with missing PDFs and ‘unpin’ yourself as a person responsible for retrieving missing PDFs.
